Shortlists and comparisons

Common buying mistakes

  1. Mixing tip systems

T12 and C245 cartridges are not interchangeable. Choose the station and its tips as one ecosystem.

  2. Ignoring the voltage variant

Many stations are sold in 110–120 V and 220–240 V versions under one listing. A US bench needs the 120 V version.

  3. Buying magnification by 'X' number

'1200X' is a marketing figure. Working distance, the space under the lens for your iron, matters more for soldering.

How we choose

We look for stations with a clearly stated tip ecosystem and a US voltage variant, preferably from brand-official stores. Every specification is labelled with its source. Nothing here has been tested by us yet, and we do not publish modification or mains-wiring advice.
